JULY GAMING REVENUE DOWN 94.5PCT Y-O-Y

The gross gaming revenue in July sank again deeply by almost 95 percent on a yearly basis.

This extends its losing streak in terms of yearly comparisons since the COVID-19 pandemic took a hit on the economy.

Official data shows that casino earnings were down to 1.34 billion patacas in July, compared to 24.4 billion patacas in the same period last year.

July’s revenue was however better as compared to the previous month, with revenue up by 88 percent from the 716 million patacas raked in June.

Analysts attribute the slight recovery to the easing of travel restrictions between Macau and Guangdong.

One of them meanwhile said that gaming revenue is only likely to rebound starting from the October Golden Week holidays.
